Pythagorion by night
Pythagoreio
From Wikipedia,
The harbour of Pythagoreio
Pythagoreio (Πυθαγόρειο) is a municipality on the island of Samos, Samos Prefecture, Greece. Population 9,003 (2001). It is the largest municipality in land area on Samos, at 164.662 km². It shares the island with the municipalities of Vathy, Karlovasi, and Marathokampos. Also known as Pythagoreion and Pythagorio.
The capital of the municipality is the town of Pythagoreio, formerly known as Tigani. The town was renamed in 1955 to honour the local-born mathematician and philosopher Pythagoras. The port of the town is considered to be the oldest man-made port of the Mediterranean Sea.[2]
The image is great with all these shades of purple. Glad to know that one of the greatest mathematicians of all time will be remembered in his home town.
ReplyDeleteAnd is the "statue" of the genius to the left??
ReplyDeleteit is more than 10 years since I have been there, but it was a very nice island to explore.

ReplyDeleteSamos look beautiful. I really like the shot of your father. That is an amazing photograph. (What would he think of you "blogging" with people all over the world?
ReplyDeleteYour harbor and town are very attractive...wish I had visited and must get back ad see your island. In 2001 we sailed on the Wind Star along the Mediterranean to ports in Italy, Monaco and France, and then in 2005 on the Costa Brava we sailed to Olympia, Rhodes, Santorini and Dubrovnik. Greeks are so nice and welcoming and the food was incredible. Fantastic trip. We loved Greece!
