"March" in my World




The "March" is a very old custom in the Balkan diaspora. Believed to have originated in ancient Greece, notably the Eleusinian Mysteries. The initiates of the Eleusinian Mysteries tie a thread, the "woof" in their right hand and their left leg. From 1 until March 31, kids wear on the wrist of a bracelet made of twisted white and red thread, the 'March' . According to popular tradition, "March" protect children's faces from the first sun of spring, not to burn. To make the last day of February and wear the first day of March, before leaving home.
